P&C Account Specialist

Job Purpose:

Pre-qualify risk exposures/hazards for acceptability in order to generate a new business quote or to endorse a policy based on the company's underwriting guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-qualify new business based on the company's underwriting guidelines
  2. Compile data as needed to validate the underwriting file. Information may be provided by the agent, the insured or gathered from external sources such as ISO, our cost estimator service, online photos, cost estimators and insured's website
  3.  Contact the agent for missing information or follow-up per underwriter direction
  4.  Enter data required to develop rate and coverage for new policies; apply policy forms, endorsements and deductibles as described int he underwriting guidelines in preparation for the underwriter's review
  5.  Process new business bind requests, renewal policies, and endorsement requests
  6. Order loss control inspections or motor vehicle records as needed
  7. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Education Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent business experience preferred
  • Proficient in the use of contemporary business software (Microsoft Suite)

Physical Requirements:

  • Job conditions may require light lifting, sitting, walking and standing
  • May be required to sit at a desk or computer for long periods of time
  • Ability to see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands and wrists
